Alex McKinnon's ex-wife Teigan Power shows off new man after sad marriage breakdown
The former NRL player split with his wife in 2022 after 12 years together.
Alex McKinnon's ex-wife Teigan Power has gone public with a new relationship. McKinnon, who was left a quadriplegic in a horror accident during an NRL game for Newcastle against Melbourne in 2014, split with Power last year after 12 years together.
The couple remain on good terms and are raising their three children together, but Power has now moved on and found love again. On Thursday night she uploaded a number of photos of a family outing to the Hunter Valley Gardens near Newcastle, and one featured her new man Jake Nelson.

Nelson commented on the photo of the pair kissing: “Appreciate you”. Power responded with: “Appreciate you hunni”.
It will come as a bitter blow for McKinnon, who got engaged to Power just weeks after he woke from a coma after suffering the spinal injury that left him paralysed nine years ago. The couple were married in 2017 and have three kids together - Harriet and twin girls Audrey and Violet.
But the struggles of raising a young family appeared to take a toll and the couple confirmed their split in April last year. The 31-year-old McKinnon told News Corp earlier this year that they remain close friends.
“We are still really close. Being a parent is such an important job and having a strong relationship with their mum is just as important," he said in April.
"We are still good friends, we both realise we are role models for the kids and we need to show them that being supportive of each other is the only way to be. We will always be close, we have three daughters together for the rest of our lives.”
Alex McKinnon's life after injury cut NRL career short
McKinnon played 46 NRL games for the Newcastle Knights, as well as three for the St George Illawarra Dragons, before his career was tragically cut short. He has since worked in a recruitment role for the Knights and as an analyst on Fox Sports.
The 31-year-old proposed to Power from his hospital bed before rising from his wheelchair at their wedding in 2017. “We are together concentrating on protecting our family and children," Power said last year in confirming the separation. "We have the utmost respect for each other, and are both very grateful for the people, as well as all of the support that we have in our lives."
In 2021 after the birth of their twins, McKinnon said about Power: “Teigan was her typical brilliant self - brave, strong and just amazing. It’s just so special and again I’m so thankful that Teigan and the girls are all doing so well.
"We're extremely grateful - with a million different emotions. I'm still trying to get my head around all that stuff like two baby seats, two cots, two high chairs… it's amazing how the rollercoaster of life works. I'm an only child and so we always wanted a big family. I guess we've got our wish, that's for sure."
