Broncos captain Alex Glenn has said an emotional goodbye to his partner and three kids after Brisbane's Covid-19 lockdown forced the team to relocate to Sydney for an indefinite period.

The Broncos made a hurried dash to Sydney on Monday after Queensland's government announced the greater Brisbane region was set to enter a three-day lockdown due to a fresh virus outbreak.

Glenn and his teammates are now in semi-isolation in a Sydney hotel, not knowing when they'll be able to return home.

The situation is particularly hard for Broncos skipper Glenn, who only recently celebrated the birth of his son, Oakley.

Glenn and his partner Jemma Lee Morgan welcomed Oakley into the world in January, making him a little brother to their other kids, Miller and Gisele.

If Queensland's situation doesn't improve, the Broncos face the possibility of weeks or maybe even months on the road.

While Glenn admitted that being away from his family was tough, he said it was a sacrifice players needed to take for the greater good of the NRL competition.

Warriors players have been asked to make even greater sacrifices by relocating from New Zealand to Australia during the pandemic, and Glenn says he and his Broncos teammates must be prepared to taken an equally selfless approach.

'Emotionally you've got to commit'

"At the end of the day the Warriors did it for 12 months. I put myself in their shoes," Glenn said.

"It's definitely hard but I know that all our families up in Brisbane have the support.

"If they didn't have the support up there, then I'd struggle being down here.

"It is definitely a sacrifice being away from the family, especially when you got kids, but in saying that we're trying to keep the game alive for the other teams that want to play.

"This is a little sacrifice that we have to do for the game and emotionally you've got to commit."

Glenn can also see a potential positive from the time away for the Broncos, who snapped a 13-game losing streak last weekend against Canterbury.

"It's a great opportunity for us to come together as a team and it's a lot better when you come off a win too," the veteran backrower said.

"The vibe in the camp has been unreal and the last 24 hours have been very chaotic but there's still a lot of smiles, there's no-one whinging about what's happening.

"Everyone's very energetic with what's ahead ... this is a great opportunity for us as a team to come together a lot stronger."
