Novak Djokovic rocked by family member's kidnapping

Novak Djokovic’s Wimbledon celebrations have been tempered by the shocking kidnapping and robbery of a family member.

The grandfather of Novak’s wife Jelena, has been found tied up in a field after unknown assailants broke into his house in central Serbia.

Djokovic’s press team said in a statement on Thursday the family is in ”complete shock over what happened” to 85-year-old Miloslav Radisavljevic.

They say attackers broke into Radisavljevic’s house, kidnapped him, and took him to a field several kilometers away.

Police said, without identifying Radisavljevic, they found a man early Thursday tied to a power pole close to his house in Ljig, some 50 kilometers south of Belgrade.

The man told the police he was also robbed by the two masked assailants of about 220 euros ($350) and a cell phone. Police say the man had no visible injuries.

Djokovic recently paid a beautiful tribute to his family after winning Wimbledon following two years of injuries and mental demons.

“I would like to extend my greatest appreciation, respect and love to all of the people that have believed in me and helped me to get to win another Wimbledon trophy,” he wrote.

“When I became a father, one of my biggest dreams was to have my children present at the stands while I am playing. Let alone winning trophies. That dream came true several days ago.

“Everyone keeps on asking me to describe the feeling. I have said it is unforgettable, special, fulfilling, wonderful, joyful. But most of all, it is Magical!

“When I thought that moment could not get any better, he shouted “Daddy, Daddy!” That’s when I completely melted.”
