Djokovic praised for incredible grace in defeat
Novak Djokovic has been lauded for his professionalism and grace after his shock loss to Denis Istomin in the second round of the Australian Open.
World No.117 Istomin from Uzbekistan, who had never beaten a top-10 player at a major, aggressively went after the second seed to post a remarkable 7-6 (10-8) 5-7 2-6 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 upset on Thursday.
It was the first time that 12-time grand slam champion had failed to make the third round of a major since Wimbledon in 2008.
The World No.2 was undoubtedly heartbroken in the aftermath, but was all class in his post-match press conference, complimenting his opponent.
"Whenever he needed it he came up with big serves and big plays," Djokovic said.
"All I can say is, hands down. I never underestimate any opponent, it doesn't matter which tournament I play in or what round.
"I have respect for everyone. Him playing that well, it's amazing."

Istomin instantly shot to face after the incredible victory, but fans were out in force commending Djokovic for the way he handled the defeat:
This is an absolute clinic by Djokovic on how to handle defeat with grace. Should be mandatory viewing for athletes in individual sports.

Djokovic has battled form, fitness and "private issues" since finally winning a maiden French Open title last year to become the first man since Rod Laver almost half a century ago to simultaneously hold all four major crowns.
"I just want to go home, spend time with my family, and that's all," he said on Thursday.
