Notre Dame teases wearing green jerseys at home for first time since 2007
Could No. 3 Notre Dame be wearing green jerseys against Florida State on Saturday? It sure looks like that after a Twitter post Thursday night.
The school tweeted a video that includes multiple players walking into coach Brian Kelly’s office to “request” that the team wear green for the final home game of the season.

Notre Dame has worn green jerseys five times in Brian Kelly’s tenure, though the most recent was for a 2015 Shamrock Series game against Boston College in Fenway Park. The last time Notre Dame wore traditional-looking green jerseys was in 2011 and the school hasn’t worn green jerseys at Notre Dame Stadium since 2007 under Charlie Weis.
Saturday night’s game would be the last opportunity for the Irish to wear green in 2018 outside of a bowl game. Notre Dame is wearing Yankees-themed jerseys to play Syracuse in a week and there’s little chance the Irish will deviate from a white-jersey tradition on the road at USC to end the season.
Green jerseys would also add something to the game vs. the Seminoles. Yeah, Notre Dame is playing for its playoff life but the leadup to the game has been nonexistent thanks to Florida State’s 2018 struggles and the absence of Fighting Irish QB Ian Book.
