No. 5 Texas rolls over No. 18 Alabama with 44-point conference win
Madison Booker scored 21 points as the Longhorns smashed the Crimson Tide 84-40
On Thursday, No. 5 Texas women's basketball team got a massive conference win over No. 18 Alabama, crushing the Crimson Tide 84-40.
What should have been a competitive ranked matchup instead turned into a 44-point blowout for the Longhorns, who steamrolled Alabama right from the beginning. Texas came out to a roaring start, going up 29-7 in the first quarter. By the end of the third quarter, the lead had grown to 42 points, with the Longhorns up 67-25.
Forward Madison Booker led the Longhorns with 21 points, moving through Alabama's defense with ease. Booker also had five rebounds and two assists.

Longhorns forward Taylor Jones delivered 11 points and 12 rebounds off the bench, while guard Rori Harmon contributed 10 points, five rebounds and six assists. In total, 10 Texas players got on the scoreboard.
The Crimson Tide, meanwhile went 15 for 56 on field goals and 4 of 23 on 3-pointers. Alabama scored only 16 points in the first half; 15 of the team's 40 points came in the fourth quarter alone, after Texas had already built up a 40-point lead. None of the Crimson Tide players hit double-digit points, rebounds or assists.
Up to this point, Alabama had built up its ranking with a series of solid wins, including a 20-point victory over Michigan State (now ranked No. 20) in December.
Texas is now 16-1, and second behind undefeated LSU in the SEC. The Longhorns' only loss came against No. 3 Notre Dame on Dec. 5. Their next game will be a tough matchup against No. 2 South Carolina on Sunday.
