The Diamondbacks will face the Rangers in the 2023 World Series. The Phillies are headed home.
For the Philadelphia Phillies and Arizona Diamondbacks, it all came down to this: Game 7 of the NLCS, with a trip to the World Series on the line.
The D-backs got on the board in the first inning, plating a run on two singles and a fielder's choice. Then Alec Bohm tied it with a solo shot to lead off the bottom of the second.

In the fourth, Bryson Stott got another postseason RBI, scoring Bohm on a double and giving the Phillies the lead. In the next half-inning, Corbin Carroll tied it with a two-out single, his third hit of the game, which scored Emmanuel Rivera and ended Phillies starter Ranger Suarez's night.
In the next at-bat, Carroll stole second, and then Gabriel Moreno hit a single to give the Diamondbacks the lead 3-2.
Carroll tacked on insurance in the seventh, with a sacrifice fly following a single from Geraldo Perdomo and a double from Ketel Marte making it 4-2. The score held from there.

The D-Backs had a negative run differential in the regular season and aren't star-studded like most of the teams they'll face this postseason, but this version of them gets on base, steals bases, has three good starting pitchers and has a lights-out bullpen. It's a blueprint for October, and it seemingly came out of nowhere.
The D-Backs win Game 7 4-2 and will head to their second World Series in franchise history. They won 84 games during the regular season, fell behind 2-0 in the NLCS and will now face the Texas Rangers for their second title. Game 1 is scheduled for Friday at 8 p.m. ET.
Jake Cave in for Pache.
Brandon Marsh hits a fly ball to the warning track, but it's another easy play. Two down for Sewald.
Castellanos hits a routine fly ball to right. One down for Sewald.
On the bright side, the Phillies finally got Corbin Carroll out. Now he's only 3-for-4 with a sac fly, two stolen bases, two RBI and two runs.
Strahm finishes the top of the ninth. Phillies need two runs, with Nick Castellanos, Brandon Marsh and Christian Pache due up. Castellanos breaking his 0-for-22 stretch would be a good start, but D-Backs closer Paul Sewald has been lights out this series.
Zack Wheeler gets an Emmanuel Rivera flyout to open the ninth, and now the Phillies are pulling him for Matt Strahm.
