Nikola Jokic's 30th birthday is a reminder of how absurd his resume is already
A 30th birthday is a major milestone in anyone's life. It's when people generally start to feel less like young adults trying to find their legs in the world and act more like the full-fledged, mature human beings they will more or less be until they're six feet under.
This sentiment probably goes double for superstar professional athletes like Nikola Jokic. Wednesday is the reigning NBA MVP's 30th birthday, a.k.a. when he's unofficially started to really crystallize as a pillar in league history. For someone who still has a lot of treads left on his tires, it's kind of breathtaking to recount all that Jokic has already accomplished.
I mean ... the Denver Nuggets' big man is only now turning 30 and would essentially possess the resume of a genuine all-time great if he somehow retired today.
At age 30, Jokic's remarkable resume is below. With so many more games to win and so much more exceptional basketball still ahead of him, it's honestly a lot to fathom:
2023 NBA Champion
2023 NBA Finals MVP
2023 Western Conference Finals MVP
Three NBA MVP awards (he’s one of only nine players ever to win it at least three times)
Seven-time All-Star (five-time starter)
Six-time All-NBA (four-time First-Team)
Two-time Olympic medalist
Third-most triple-doubles in NBA history (155)
Seriously, that's someone with the catalog of a firm top-15 place in NBA annals. There was so much to type! And Jokic, on his 30th birthday, still has an entire second half of his career ahead. That's wild stuff, man.
Shoutout to the Joker on his special day. He's one of the best we've ever seen. There are no ifs, ands, or buts about it.
