Nick Kyrgios takes 'weird' swipe at Rafael Nadal amid wedding joy

Aussie maverick Nick Kyrgios has taken a fresh swipe at Rafael Nadal in an Instagram post.

Rafael Nadal married long-time partner Xisca Perello on Saturday on his home island of Mallorca.

But instead of wishing Nadal congratulations, Kyrgios decided to take a sly dig at the Spaniard.

The Aussie posted a clip of an ugly moment between the pair in their grudge match at Wimbledon in July, which Nadal won in four-sets.

The rally posted on Instagram showed Kyrgios hitting the ball straight at Nadal at the net, which the Aussie later admitted to doing on purpose.

The post was accompanied with the caption: “Mood”.

Nadal didn’t take kindly to the rocket at the time, which hit the frame of his racquet, however Kyrgios was unrepentant.

"I think he can take a ball to the chest, bro. I'm not going to apologise to him at all,” Kyrgios said.

"I was going for him. Yeah, I wanted to hit him square in the chest. Like, he's got decent hands."

The lead-up to the grudge match at Wimbledon was dominated by a series of verbal jousts between the two, chiefly Kyrgios's taunting of the "super salty" Spaniard and Nadal's "idiot" Uncle Toni in an explosive podcast.

Many fans were rather taken aback by the timing of Kyrgios’ fresh swipe - given Nadal had just celebrated his wedding.

Why Federer wasn’t at the wedding

Many tennis fans were surprised to learn that Roger Federer wasn’t in attendance as Rafael Nadal married long-time partner Xisca Perello on Saturday.

Nadal and Perello were married in a ceremony on the Spanish island of Mallorca, the star-studded event attended by the king and queen emeritus of Spain, Juan Carlos and Sofia, and numerous other famous guests.

Federer and Nadal have become great friends over the years despite their fierce rivalry on the court.

However the 20-time grand slam champion has revealed he wasn’t invited.

“I was not invited and I did not expect it,” Federer said on Sunday.

“That's not a problem at all. I congratulated him on his wedding day and I did not expect him to reply. I knew he had better things to do. Like celebrating in a big way.

“I am happy to see him and ask him how it went."
