All-time NFL blunder leaves Bengals man red-faced

Here's a riddle for you: How can you return an interception for 100 yards but still not get a touchdown?

The Cincinnati Bengals' Dre Kirkpatrick figured out how to pull that off but it's not something he'll be telling the grandkids about.

Kirkpatrick intercepted a pass from the Denver Broncos' quarterback Brock Osweiler - not much of a feat in itself - in the Denver end zone, and then took off toward his own end zone.

The Bengals cornerback sprinted clear and looked destined to cross for the touchdown until disaster struck.

Kirkpatrick lost control of the ball when he realised Emmanuel Sanders was almost on top of him, barely managing to recover his own fumble.

The fact the Cincinnati man regathered the football saved him from complete and utter embarrassment but only just.

The Bengals scored three plays later and ended up shading the contest 20-17 so no lasting harm was done except to Kirkpatrick's stat sheet and ego.
