'I would have run way faster': 150kg runner's one regret

Future LSU football player Kardell Thomas sprinted into stardom at his high school's recent track meet.

But he says he could've been even quicker with one small change.

Thomas, who stands 193 centimetres and weighs 150 kilograms, ran the anchor leg in a 4x100m relay and showed off significant pace.

The Southern University Lab School student trailed off towards the end but now, after going viral, he says with confidence that he should have kept up the pace.

If only he was wearing size 17 shoes - his normal pair - as opposed to the larger 18s he had on.

"A lot of people didn’t think I was that fast. Big-man speed is very underrated," Thomas told 247Sports.

“I still did good. I feel like if I had my shoes on I would have run way faster than that.”

Thomas has been inundated with messages on his Twitter account as he revels in his new-found fame.

Nicknamed Mr Pancake, he told one person he runs the 40-yard dash - the sprint commonly used at the NFL Draft combine - in 5.4 seconds.

And he doesn't want to be a viral sensation for his entire life.

"I'm trying to be the #1 overall PLAYER nothing stopping that," he wrote after being named the No.15 player in 247Sports' latest rankings for the 2019 graduating class.
