Taylor Swift's appearance at the Super Bowl on Sunday (Monday AEDT) didn't go down well with everyone in the crowd, with the mega-star loudly booed when shown on the big screen at Allegiant Stadium. Swift made a mad dash from the Tokyo Dome to Las Vegas to cheer on boyfriend Travis Kelce, who endured a nightmare first half and was involved in an ugly clash with his own coach that was labelled 'disgraceful'.

Kelce endured a frustrating time early in Sunday's game and was spotted in a heated exchange with Chiefs coach Andy Reid. The Chiefs were held scoreless until the final 20 seconds of the half, with the 49ers taking a 10-3 lead into the break after a stunning play led to a Christian McCaffrey touchdown.

In one ugly moment in the second quarter, Kelce grabbed Reid on the sideline and screamed in his face. Kelce appeared to be upset that he wasn't in the game on a pivotal red-zone play. The Chiefs had driven close to the 49ers' goal-line on a 52-yard pass from Mahomes to Mecole Hardman, but on the very next play Kelce wasn't in the game.

Noah Gray was instead on the field to block as the Chiefs dialled up a run play for Isaiah Pacheco. But Pacheco fumbled the ball for a Chiefs turnover, and Kansas City's first and best chance to score was squandered.

Kelce only had one reception in the first half for just one yard. He was much better in the second half as the Chiefs came back to win 25-22 in overtime. But fans and commentators lashed out over his clash with Reid, with many labelling it 'disgraceful'.

Taylor Swift booed by fans in 'gross' Super Bowl act

Kelce splashed out a reported $1 million for a private suite for Swift and some of her entourage, which included rapper Ice Spice and actress Blake Lively. Swift is one the most popular celebrities in the world right now, and some have suggested she could run for president and win.

But her attendance at the Super Bowl drew a mixed reaction on Sunday. The pop star was shown on the big screen singing along to Post Malone's performance of 'America the Beautiful', but it sparked loud boos from the crowd - presumably from 49ers fans.

Viewers took to social media to condemn the unsavoury behaviour, with many unhappy that Swift would be booed simply for supporting her boyfriend. Others described it as "gross" and "shameful" that the booing overshadowed Post Malone's performance.

Taylor Swift's mad dash to attend Super Bowl

The 14-time Grammy winner has been dating Chiefs tight end Kelce since the first few weeks of the current NFL season. She flew across nine time zones and the international dateline from her 'Eras Tour' to arrive in Vegas about two hours before kick-off in the Super Bowl.

Swift walked into the stadium wearing a black outfit with a red jacket slung over her shoulder, apparently getting the memo from Kelce and many of the Chiefs players. Kelce wore a shimmering black suit, quarterback Patrick Mahomes wore a sharp black suit of his own, and even Chiefs coach Andy Reid wore a black blazer as the Chiefs leaned into the villain role in which they have been cast.

“She’s unbelievable. She’s rewriting the history books herself,” Kelce said after the Grammys last Sunday. “I told her I’ll have to hold up my end of the bargain and come home with hardware, too.”

Swift has been a regular at Chiefs games this season - both home and away. She has frequently sat with Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Kansas City quarterback Patrick.

"Having Taylor as a new Chiefs fan is very unique," Chiefs owner Clark Hunt said previously. “I don't ever do an interview without someone asking me about it. I think a lot of players and coaches on the team are in the same boat. The most important thing is we're happy for the two of them that they have found each other and have such a special relationship.”
