Tennis champion Andy Murray has drawn the ire of Taylor Swift's legion of fans after sarcastically congratulating her for 'winning the Super Bowl' on Sunday. Swift was in attendance at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas as boyfriend Travis Kelce helped the Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers to win back-to-back championships.

Swift's attendance was every bit as captivating as the game itself, with the mega-star making a mad dash from her Eras Tour in Japan to be at the Super Bowl. The singer-songwriter was booed by 49ers fans when she was shown on the big screen before the game, but won over the crowd when she necked a drink later on.

Swift was constantly shown on the TV coverage, which irked a number of viewers. The pop star's attendance at recent NFL games has reportedly handed the league a $300 million boost in terms of exposure.

But some like Murray are clearly perturbed by how much she's been shown on the screen. The Scottish tennis champ took to social media after the Super Bowl, writing: "Congrats to Taylor Swift on winning Super Bowl 58, a stunning performance."

Murray was clearly taking a swipe at the media and the infatuation with Swift, but he still copped backlash from her massive fan base. "Andy don't be ridiculous," one person wrote. "Taylor was his support person just as your girlfriend turned wife was when you were playing tennis."

Another wrote: "Jealousy doesn't look good on you Andy. Why do you have such a problem with Taylor? She was there to simply support her boyfriend. It's not her fault the cameras kept panning to her and it's not her fault that she was all over social media. Give it a rest man."

Others pointed out that Murray's wife Kim, and even his mum Judy, have been shown countless times while watching his tennis matches over the years. "Calm down Andy, she did nothing wrong but support her boyfriend," another commented. "We have had to see your mum for all these years."

However others agreed it was jarring to see Swift on the screen so much. "It's crazy how much they've shown her," one person wrote. "You'd think she was the driving force behind the whole thing." Some saw the funny side of Murray's tweet and praised him for the comment.

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift celebrate Super Bowl victory

Swift flew halfway around the world to see Kelce and his team play the 49ers in Las Vegas. She completed her trip from the Tokyo Dome to Vegas just in time for the game, arriving with actress Blake Lively, rapper Ice Spice and her mum Andrea Swift.

She shared a kiss with Kelce on the field after the game, and the happy couple were seen singing along to Swift's songs during the after-party. “I’m going to go ahead and enjoy this and everything that just happened,” Kelce said after the 25-22 victory.

“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that I’ve been able to go through three times now. It gets sweeter and sweeter every time. You know the goal has always been to get three. But we couldn’t get here without getting that two, and having that target on our back all year.”
