Hear Lily Allen's Two Lush, Keane-Written 'Pan' Songs

by Daniel Kreps

Lily Allen has contributed a pair of new songs to the soundtrack for Pan, the Peter Pan origin story film set to open stateside on October 9th. Allen’s tracks, the uplifting ballad “Something’s Not Right” and the upbeat, low-key “Little Soldier,” presumably the anthem of the Lost Boys, were both written and produced by Keane’s Tim Rice-Oxley, and both cuts boast that group’s lush pop sensibilities. Allen previously covered Keane’s hit “Somewhere Only We Know” as a bonus cut on her 2014 LP Sheezus.

“Go watch Pan movie. Myself and the king of physical comedy @keane Tim Rice-Oxley wrote some songs for it and they’re in it,” Allen tweeted. The Joe Wright-directed film also features a score by Academy Award-nominated composer John Powell. A prequel of sorts to J.M. Barrie’s classic story, Pan features Peter Pan teaming with a younger Captain Hook in Neverland in order to take down the pirate Blackbeard, played by Hugh Jackman.

Lily Allen Opens up About ‘Sheezus’

In addition to her Pan tracks, Allen has reportedly been working on her follow-up to the 2014 LP Sheezus, NME reports, which could include a new track Allen previously previewed titled “You’re Onto Me.” As Allen told Rolling Stone in 2014, she’s eager to release new music quickly in order to fulfill the obligation on her record contract.

“ I just want to get it done as quickly as possible so I can get out of my deal,” Allen said, adding she had two albums left on her contract after Sheezus. “It might be one and a greatest hits. That’s not because I want off my label. I just want to have more control. I want to put things out in the way that I want. I feel like I know my fanbase better than they know my fanbase. I communicate with them every day. I set it up on MySpace. I saw how it evolved and how it worked. I wish they would let me do it in my way.”
