We've seen plenty of great grabs so far in 2016 but New York Mets baseballer Juan Lagares may have topped them all with this stunning catch.

The centre fielder sprinted full-speed towards the outfield fence chasing a long fly ball off the bat of Philadelphia's Maikel Franco.

The ball seemed destined to sail over the fence for a home run before Lagares made a brilliant leaping catch to rob the Phillies star.

"If there's a better catch so far in baseball than that one, I haven’t seen it," Mets manager Terry Collins said. "On a dead run, a dead fly, to go up against that fence to make that, we get spoiled watching it. But that's what we saw two years ago. And that’s why he's got a Gold Glove sitting on his mantel."
