Weightlifter in scary collapse during lift attempt

Female weightlifter Genesis Rodriguez Gomez has shocked onlookers after collapsing mid-lift at the Pan Am Games.

Competing in the women’s 53kg event, Gomez attempted to clean-and-jerk the 106kg weight, but buckled and fainted, falling forwards under the bar.

She somehow managed to avoid serious injury.

The 20-year-old later returned and even boosted the weight to 109kg, however she was successful and claimed the silver medal.
