Amy Schumer Opens Up About the Fight for Gun Control and Her Father’s Battle with Multiple Sclerosis

Amy Schumer has been named by Barbara Walters as one of 2015’s Most Fascinating People and it’s not hard to see why. The 34-year-old comedian, who skyrocketed to fame this past year, sat down with Walters for her ABC special airing Thursday at 7:30 pm ET/PT and discussed many topics, including her involvement in the fight for gun control in the wake of the devastating shooting that took place during a July screening of her film Trainwreck.

She also opened up about her father Gordon’s longtime battle with multiple sclerosis. Gordon has been living with the disease since Amy was just 12. His situation served as part of the storyline for her summer flick in which she portrays an onscreen character also named Amy who has a dad battling MS. Of her real-life father’s condition, the Comedy Central star told Walters he’s “not good.” She continued, “Some days he’s really good and he’s with it and we’re joking around. And some days I go to visit my dad and it’s so painful. I can’t believe it."
