New footage reveals crazy truth about Harry Kane's brutal 'miss'

It was originally dubbed a ‘dreadful miss’ that cost England their spot in the World Cup final, but was it actually an incredible save?

Everything went right for Harry Kane at the World Cup until the semi-finals, as the England captain appeared to butcher the winning goal against Croatia.

England were knocked out by Mario Mandzukic’s extra-time goal, but it could have been a far different story had Kane scored in the 30th minute.

Leading 1-0 after Kieran Trippier’s fifth-minute free kick, England almost made it two when Jesse Lingard squeezed a pass inside the box to Kane.

The skipper’s right-foot shot, however, went straight to goalkeeper Danijel Subasic – and his second attempt from point blank bounced off the post.

Fans immediately thought Kane had sent his shot straight into the woodwork and missed the target, but footage posted to social media on Saturday says differently.

As you can see in the video above, a super slow-mo angle shows how Subasic actually pulled off an incredible save.

The Croatian keeper narrowly gets his boot to Kane’s shot and redirects the ball onto the post.

Without the keeper’s intervention the ball would have found the back of the net and England would be preparing for the final against France, not Croatia.
