Pelicans slammed for 'disrespectful' LeBron James moment

LeBron James has become an efficient three-point shooter throughout his career, but this didn’t stop the Pelicans defence leaving the ‘The King’ wide-open and refusing to shut him down in a move that has been labelled “disrespectful”.

In the first quarter, the Lakers were trailing with four minutes left when Rajon Rondo fired the ball out to James in the corner.

But instead of closing James down, the two closest Pelicans chose to stop.

Jrue Holiday even turned his back on James instead of closing him down, despite being within range to pressure him.

James dribbled the ball a couple of times, taking his time, before eventually slotting the three-pointer.

Social media users were quick to point out the “disrespect” the Pelicans showed in refusing to put any pressure on The King.

Other than the lapse in concentration, the Pelicans’ defence was solid all night long.

But Anthony Davis returned back to New Orleans and dominated for 41 points, and grabbed nine rebounds as the Lakers beat the Pelicans 114-110.
