If July 16, 2021, isn't already marked on your calendar, you should get out a pen and circle it right now. That's the date "Space Jam: A New Legacy" is being released, and judging by the pictures star LeBron James posted on Twitter, it looks like it's going to be a blast.

James posted four images of the new "Space Jam" on Twitter Thursday, part of Entertainment Weekly's first look at the movie, and more popped up on Twitter soon after.

We've got LeBron in his Tune Squad uniform about to dunk an electric blue basketball. We've got LeBron with Tweety Bird and Lola Bunny. We've got LeBron's movie son (not actually Bronny) with Don Cheadle, who is playing the film's villain, Al G Rhythm. And we've got CGI Bugs Bunny, looking a little more three dimensional than he did the last time he was playing basketball with an NBA star.

James not worried about Michael Jordan comparison

Speaking of Michael Jordan, his performance in the original "Space Jam" loomed large in James' mind. When he was first offered the role 15 years ago, he said no. Jordan was at a much different point in his career when he did "Space Jam," and James knew he wasn't there yet.

"I didn't think I was ready to do anything of that magnitude," James admitted to Entertainment Weekly. "I wanted to continue to focus on my game and give it as much as I could."

James was also worried that people would think he was just imitating Jordan by doing his own "Space Jam." But with a few more years under his belt, James has more clarity. He's not really worried about that anymore.

“In my younger days, part of my thinking was ‘Space Jam was so good, how can I top this?’ ” James told EW. “There’s always going to be conversations about LeBron trying to do everything Michael [did]. But I’ve gotten older, and you know who you are. You know what you stand for.”
