'What a nightmare': Devastating moment rocks NBA Finals

Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson was helped off the court after suffering left knee injury during Game 6 of the NBA Finals.

Remarkably, he went down the tunnel before returning to shoot free throws.

He suffered the injury on an awkward landing on a dunk attempt he was fouled on, with replays showing his leg buckle awkwardly.

“He is writhing in pain,” ESPN’s Mike Breen said.

Had he left the game without shooting free throws, he wouldn’t have been allowed to return.

ESPN’s Doris Burke later reported that he was ruled out of the rest of the game because of the injury.

Thompson was seen using crutches in the tunnel on his way to undergoing an MRI scan.

The impending free agent was diagnosed with a torn left ACL that is set to ruin his 2019-20 season.

Raptors make history

Toronto went on to win their first championship with a historic NBA Finals triumph over the Golden State Warriors.

Ending the Warriors’ hopes of a three-peat, the Raptors took out a thrilling 114-110 win in Game 6 in the last game to be played at Oakland’s famous Oracle Arena.

The contest ended in bizarre circumstances as the Warriors called a timeout despite having none left.

Toronto received a technical free throw and the ball, before a foul on the buzzer further delayed the Raptors’ celebrations.
