Former NBA player Delonte West has been arrested again in a devastating new twist to his sad fall from grace.

West was arrested on Tuesday night after allegedly resisting arrest after banging on the doors at a police department while intoxicated.

The 38-year-old was arrested in Boynton Beach, Florida.

According to the police report, he started banging on glass doors at the Boynton Beach police department lobby, yelling obscenities while carrying two open containers of alcohol.

West reportedly walked away from police and was ordered to place his alcohol containers on the ground.

He reportedly complied with that order, but then moved his hands to his waistband.

An officer pulled out a Taser, at which point West co-operated.

He reportedly "continued to be belligerent and screaming profanities and obscure rants" when placed in the police car, according to the report.

Police said West smelled of alcohol and was slurring his speech. He was charged with "resisting an officer without violence, disorderly intoxication and having an open container."

He was reportedly released on bail on Wednesday morning.

Troubling new twist in Delonte West's fall from grace

The latest arrest is a troubling development for West, who entered a rehab facility in 2020.

He was involved in two disturbing videos last year, at which point Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban got involved and made sure he went to rehab.

In January, he got a job working at his rehab centre.

One of the videos that surfaced last year showed a man who appeared to be West being attacked in the middle of a road.

Another video showed the man handcuffed while talking to police, where he accused another man of pulling a gun on him.

Late last year West spotted in Dallas, appearing to be homeless and begging on the street.

A photo that went viral on social media showed the 38-year-old standing on the side of a road holding a sign.

West, who played eight seasons in the NBA, most notably played for the Boston Celtics - who selected him with the No. 24 overall pick in the draft in 2004 - and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

He last played for the Dallas Mavericks in 2012, but was suspended twice for conduct detrimental to the team and eventually waived.

The former college star averaged 9.6 points and 3.6 assists over 432 games in his career.

West’s career took a turn about midway through, and he revealed he had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2008.

“Delonte West is not crazy, he is not on drugs,” West’s brother Dmitri said previously.

“I don’t know what exactly is going on in his mind but I can tell you that he is safe and he’s doing OK.

“My family are trying to get him the best professional help that’s out there, the best that they can afford.”
