Motocross champion, 26, killed in horror race accident
The world of motocross has been rocked by the tragic death of a 26-year-old rising star.
Edjarde Hipolito was competing in Sao Pedro in Brazil recently when he came off his bike as he landed a jump.
Onlookers immediately cried out in shock as other riders could be seen rushing to his aid.
According to local media, the champion rider died on his way to hospital.
The exact cause of death was not immediately clear.
“He was a rider with vast experience, I had known him since we were very young,” Hipolito’s friend and fellow motocross rider Gyscard Bernardo told media.
‘We are very sorry’
RN Esporte Club paid tribute to Hipolito on social media.
“We are very sorry to hear of the early departure of motocross rider Edjarde Hipolito,” they wrote.
“The young champion of many categories since he was young had already shown he would be a great athlete.
“Today, during a race in Sao Pedro, his trajectory was interrupted after an accident.
“We regret the incident and we will show solidarity with the mourning family. Rest in peace Edjarde.”
