McGregor's incredible gesture to Irish songwriter
An Irish songwriter's dream has come true, with Conor McGregor reaching out with an incredible gesture to thank him for his tribute song.
Mick Konstantin, a singer songwriter from Killdare, Ireland, released the song "There's only one Conor McGregor" to an massive response on Facebook last week.
With lyrics featuring famous quotes and events from the rise of the Irish champion, the song quickly went viral and has so far received over 58,000 likes and 13,000 comments.
"Just throwing up the yearly tune," Mick wrote on Facebook.
"Thought I'd do one on Conor McGregor, and the fight coming up against Mayweather.
"Tried to get as many of his famous lines in as possible, so hope ye like it."
One man who couldn't get enough of the catchy tune was McGregor himself, who's currently in serious training in Vegas for the big fight on Sunday August 27 (AEST).
In an interview the UFC's first event double champion told MMA Fighting, "It was one hell of a song. It's a very catchy song. We actually reached out to the guy."
"I had my people reach out to him and we're booking him a flight, him plus one.
"We're going to bring him over to the fight and get him tickets and put him up in a hotel and I'm going to meet him maybe after the fight. It's one hell of a song.
"I'm going to bring him in as a thank you for the support. What a song, it's the journey in music form.
"Myself and my team, we enjoyed it very much, so we're going to fly him out."
Mick has since confirmed he'll be flying to Vegas for the big fight, and all the events that surround it.
"Cannot even begin to thank himself and all his crew enough," Mick wrote.
"They really are legends, and will never forget this gesture. Really is the stuff of dreams."
Mick is also hoping to perform his song at an after party for McGregor and his entourage.
The viral hit will be available for download soon.
