Holm's appeal against de Randamie denied
In a move that was expected, the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) denied the appeal of Holly Holm following her controversial loss to Germaine de Randamie in their featherweight title bout at UFC 208.
“After a review of the video footage of the bout, the New York State Athletic Commission determined that there was no clear error or violation of statute or rule by Referee Todd Anderson,” an NYSAC official told Yahoo Sports.
“Therefore, the scoring and outcome of the bout will not be modified.”
Holm filed an appeal of the loss and a complaint against referee Todd Anderson four days after the loss.
The former women’s bantamweight champion asked NYSAC to look at the “failure to deduct one or more points from Germaine de Randamie following her repeated strikes thrown after the horn sounded to end Rounds 2 and 3,” the complaint had stated.
After rounds two and three had come to a conclusion and the bell had sounded, Anderson was slow to separate de Randamie and Holm. Due to Anderson not being quick enough to get over to the fighters, de Randamie landed three extra punches, including two in the second round which seemed to stagger Holm.
The Dutch striker has remained steadfast that she didn’t throw the punches on purpose and would grant Holm an immediate rematch. Holm and her camp want the fight to happen again.
“We respect their decision and will not seek anything further, except a rematch from Germaine,” Holm’s agent Lenny Fresquez told MMAFighting.com.
UFC fans, experts and fighters were left flabbergasted by the ref's lack of action after the fight.
The referee just told De Randamie that if she hits Holy Holm after the bell AGAIN he will deduct a point. Twice isn't enough apparently.

I don't agree with that decision at all, Holly Holm should of won that match. Points should of been taken away from De Randamie. #ufc208

Germaine De Randamie "wins" an illegitimate championship, hits Holm after the bell twice, then ducks Cyborg. WHAT A NIGHT! #ufc208

What a disgusting result. Deduct them 2 points and Holm wins. Robbery. #UFC208
