Mitchell Marsh's brother, Shaun, has been filmed going absolutely wild at a bar overnight to celebrate the allrounders stunning return to the Australian team in the Ashes. Travis Head and Marsh were left the opportunity to keep Australia in the game after lunch in overcast conditions and the Western Australian allrounder showed his mettle.

Marsh came out firing whacking a 102-ball century to put England back on the defence. The milestone came with 17 boundaries and four sixes as England had no answers for his explosive counter-attack.

The 31-year-old has often endured a tough time in the baggy green with him once being asked why he was so divisive to the Australian public. "Yeah, most of Australia hate me. Look, Australians are passionate. They love their cricket," he said back in 2019.

"They want people to do well. I've had a lot of opportunity at test level and haven't quite nailed it. But hopefully they can respect me for the fact that I keep coming back."

Fast-forward to 2023 at Hedadingley and Marsh, when given the opportunity with Cameron Green's absence, has unequivocally proved to Australia he deserved his chance with an innings-saving century.

And no one was more thrilled than brother, and former Australian cricketer, Shaun. Filmed at a bar watching it in the early hours of the morning, Shaun jumped up in excitement when Marsh scored his century. His father could be seen jumping up and down in the background. Geoff Marsh played 50 tests for Australia and was also former selector.

Marsh was all smiles during his press conference when he was asked if he had seen the video. "I saw it just as I walked in, yeah. Shaun's 40th in couple of days time. All the family are in Bali."

"It's bloody great," Marsh said of the video.

The 31-year-old became the fastest Australian player to score a century on England soil since Victor Trumper did it in 95 balls back in 1902. Marsh was elated after his century, which saw him come in as a replacement for the allrounder Green.

"There are always times when you spend a lot of time away from the game where you think that you might not get back to Test level," Marsh said. "It's taken a lot of hard work.

"I chose to have ankle surgery and miss last summer to get on this tour, knowing that I was going to be Greeny's understudy. Really proud to be able to get back in this team.

"I feel a part of the squad even though I haven't played a lot of Test cricket over the last couple of years. I feel very much part of it. It's a credit to the leadership. That's why we've had a lot of guys come in and contribute at different times and certain guys play unbelievably well."

Marsh also took the wicket of Zac Crawley to cap off a superb day for the allrounder.
