Mics caught Brock Purdy honestly complimenting Brian Flores’s complex Vikings defense
One of the more surprising outcomes from a wacky Week 2 in the NFL was how easily the Minnesota Vikings took apart the San Francisco 49ers on both sides of the ball.
Not only did Sam Darnold and an electric Justin Jefferson have their way with the 49ers' defense, but the Vikings' defense consistently flummoxed Brock Purdy and friends en route to an uneven outing where the 49ers scored just 17 points while converting only 20 percent of their third-down plays.
After the game, with the Vikings celebrating their standing at 2-0, hot mics on the field caught Purdy quickly complimenting Minnesota defensive coordinator Brian Flores for his complicated -- and effective -- scheme:
Flores has a reputation for having his defenses confuse quarterbacks while aggressively controlling the line of scrimmage. Sunday against the 49ers was no different. It's a big reason the Vikings are still undefeated. Kudos to Purdy for showing grace in defeat and admitting reality to one of the NFL's best coordinators.
