Mick Fanning's ridiculous barrel

The Gold Coast has been lit up all week and the local surfers are getting the best barrels of their life.

And as happens whenever Snapper Rocks and Superbanks is firing Mick Fanning is in the middle of it.

Get out a stop watch and time just how long Fanning is on this wave and how much of it is under the curtain.

It's mind blowing.

And this is just one of many clips coming out of the frantically-crowded but wave rich stretch of coast.

Joel Parkinson's younger cousin, Mitch, scored a wave just the day before Mick's that was seen around the world.

He scored seven barrels in the one ride. That is more than many surfers will get in their entire lives.

Just how good are the waves at the moment?

"I think it’s the best I’ve seen it in my life time. It’s the most perfect," Mitch Parkinson told Stab Magazine.

And that wave in particular?

"It was like, surreal," he said.

"I was going through each section seeing one of my mates giving me the finger or something. Every time I went through a section it was one of my different mates heads popping out at me screaming or giving me the finger and, yeah, it was a once in a lifetime wave I guess."
