Sources: Mets SP Zack Wheeler headed to IL with shoulder fatigue

It’s not what you want.

Mets righty Zack Wheeler, the team’s top chip heading into the July 31 trade deadline, is going on the injured list due to right shoulder fatigue, sources confirmed to Yahoo Sports.

Wheeler, 29, a pending free agent, is 6-6 with 4.69 ERA in 19 starts. He has struck out 130 in 119 innings.

He is eligible to come off the IL on July 23.
