Max Homa has a new looper this week at The Sentry: Jordan Spieth's caddie Michael Greller

A familiar face will be on Max Homa's bag this week at The Sentry.

No, not his caddie Joe Greiner. But Michael Greller, Jordan Spieth's caddie, will loop for Homa at Kapalua's Plantation Course in Hawaii.

Sean Martin with the PGA Tour said the change isn't permanent. Homa needed someone to fill in for Greiner at The Sentry. Spieth is not in the field this week, so enter Greller.

As Martin notes, Greiner will return to Homa's bag sometime during the West Coast Swing.

The field hasn't been announced for next week's Sony Open at Waialae, though Spieth has played the tournament in the past, including last year when he held a share of the first-round lead before missing the cut. That could be a reason why Greller is in Hawaii, awaiting his boss's return after wrist surgery.

Nevertheless, it's going to be odd seeing Greller working for someone else this week. Perhaps he and Homa can find a spark and make a run in the season opener.

Homa's last appearance was in December on the DP World Tour in his title defense at the Nedbank Challenge, where he finished T-14.
