Matty Johns' son promoted to Storm's NRL squad

The Melbourne Storm has announced two new young talents will join their 30 man roster for the remainder of the season.

Young talents Harry Grant and Cooper Johns will step up and be eligible for NRL selection for the rest of the season.

Cooper is the son of Newcastle great Matty Johns.

Johns played 176 games and won a premiership with Newcastle and represented New South Wales in State of Origin four times.

His son, Cooper, is a playmaker like his father and uncle Andrew.

The 19-year-old has been playing in the Queensland Cup for the Sunshine Coast Falcons before linking up with Melbourne.

Grant a talented hooker who is seen as a potential long term candidate to follow in Cameron Smith’s footsteps.

The youngster made his NRL debut in May last year, but hasn’t pulled on the Storm jersey in the first grade since.
