More bad news for Mary Fowler as young Matildas caught up in embarrassing scenes

Viewers couldn't believe the conditions the young Matildas faced.

Mary Fowler may have been the star of the show for the Matildas in their Olympics qualification demolition of Uzbekistan, but she still can't find a place in her club's starting XI. Fowler has been instrumental for the Matildas since her star role in the Women's World Cup for Australia.

She was once again formidable in the green and gold having scored a goal in her 50th appearance for the Matildas. Despite her form for country, Fowler still can't find a place in her club set-up back in the UK.

Many City coach Gareth Taylor opted not to start Fowler in the team's 2-1 win over Everton on the weekend. Unfortunately for Fowler, this means she has now failed to start for Man City in three months.

This comes as City have won 12 matches in a row and moved past Sam Kerr's Chelsea, who have a game in hand. Fowler is trying to find a position in the team with the ever-prolific Khadija Shaw and Lauren Hemp scoring for fun.

Fowler did enter the match in the 78th minute and went close to scoring, but wasn't able to take her opportunity. Before the game, Aussie coach Tony Gustavvson hoped other clubs would take notice of Fowler and her performances considering she wasn't getting the expected game time at City.

Leading up to the Paris Olympics, Fowler will be hoping to get more game time to remain match fit for the Matildas. And fans also took notice having declared Fowler might soon seek football elsewhere if she doesn't get more regular game time at Man City.

Fans outraged amid Young Matildas drama

While the Matildas have qualified for the Paris Olympics, there was outrage after the young Matildas team played on a field half covered in snow. Playing in their opening U20 Women's Asian Cup game against Korea Republic, the young Matildas took to the field with snow covering huge portions of the field.

Passes from both teams were getting stuck in the snow as players dug out patches when they could to take free kicks. While snow was expected during the tournament, many fans couldn't believe the conditions in Uzbekistan.

Fortunately for the young Matildas, a late second-half comeback sealed the win for Australia in their opening match. Having gone behind 1-0 at half-time, Peta Trimis was able to level the match.

And Naomi Chinnama was able to secure Australia the dramatic win in the 90th minute in epic scenes for the young Matildas. The young Matildas will face Uzbekistan and Taiwan to see who progresses from the group.
