'It's 20 bucks': Daly Cherry-Evans breaks Queensland ban

Daly Cherry-Evans has accidentally slipped up in a press conference breaking Maroons coach Kevin Walters’ talking ban on mentioning the Blues.

The Maroons captain unwittingly let slip his opponents name in front of reporters on Monday, despite being under strict instructions not to mention NSW under new tactics introduced by Walters.

“Don’t get me wrong we haven’t disregarded NSW as a side and make no mistake we have done our preparation,” the Maroons captain said.

“But what we have done is try to make a bit more of an emphasis on our preparation in this camp and while it is a bit of a left-field tactic, I really feel it has been a positive thing for this young group.

“We have really narrowed our focus as to what we have to do to play well on Wednesday.”

After being told he had accidentally mentioned NSW, Cherry-Evans laughed off the mistake.

“It’s 20 bucks I think I’ll be right,” he said.

Walters slapped a ban on the Queensland team mention NSW in camp as part of a new tactic.

The move comes from a man dubbed the “coach whisperer” and the tactic has come under scrutiny in the past week.
