NRL legend 'angry and devastated' by nasty rumours about daughter

Penrith Panthers legend Mark Geyer has engaged lawyers over rumours his daughter is involved in the scandal engulfing his old club.

The rumours were posted on an unofficial and notorious NRL Facebook page on Monday night.

A social media account appearing to belong to Geyer was seen commenting on the post, which has since been taken down, demanding to know who was running the page.

“Can someone tell me where/who runs this page, and where they operate of???? NOW!!”,” he posted.

On Tuesday, Geyer released the following statement:

“I have today engaged Brydens Lawyers to act on behalf of my daughter, Montanna, for the purpose of taking action against those who have published false and defamatory material which has caused incredible distress for my family,” he said.

“On the advice of the solicitors, I do not propose to make any further comment.”

Channel Nine’s Danny Weidler said Geyerhad been left “angry and devastated”.

“His family has been wrongly linked to the issues that his old club are dealing with,” he tweeted.
