Mark Cosgrove purposely 'headers' bouncer in baffling video

Amid the bouncer dramas that the cricket world witnessed at Lord’s last week, comes this truly bizarre video of Aussie batsman Mark Cosgrove.

In action in the County Championship for Leicestershire on Wednesday, Cosgrove decided to use his head when faced with some short-pitched bowling.

No seriously - he literally used his head.

As you can see in the video above, Cosgrove appeared to intentionally put his helmet in the path of the ball and almost headered it away - soccer style.

The ball went straight to first slip off Cosgrove’s noggin, almost as if he was giving the fielder some catching practice.

Video of the bizarre moment went viral on social media.

Cosgrove’s century saves Leicestershire

Remarkably, Cosgrove made 107 not out to help his side salvage a draw against Durham.

The Australian batsman stayed at the crease all day, frustrating the Durham bowlers until bad light eventually stopped play.

The 35-year-old played three one-day internationals for Australia in 2006, making a top score of 74.

He’s in his fifth season with Leicestershire, amassing over 14,000 first class runs in Australia and England.
