Manchester United 'suffer triple injury blow' for Coventry FA Cup semi-final as new face added to squad
Manchester United have reportedly been dealt a new triple injury blow as Erik ten Hag faces a defensive crisis for Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final against Coventry.
Widespread reports on Saturday evening claimed that academy graduate Willy Kambwala had not made the trip down to Wembley due to injury, leaving Harry Maguire as the Red Devils’ only fit and available senior centre-back with Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans also sidelined.
Ten Hag is said to have now added teenage defender Louis Jackson to his FA Cup squad, with the highly-rated Under-18s regular joining fellow youngsters Ethan Wheatley, Harry Amass and Habeeb Ogunneye in making the trip to London.
Indeed, Fabrizio Romano even reports that United have tested midfielder Casemiro this week as a potential emergency centre-back to play alongside Maguire against Championship side Coventry at Wembley.
To make matters worse for Ten Hag, Mason Mount will also apparently now miss out on Sunday through injury, while midfield colleague Sofyan Amrabat is similarly not available.
They join an already lengthy United injury list that also includes Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia and Anthony Martial, though they should at least have both Antony and Scott McTominay back against Coventry at Wembley.
