Man Utd highly unlikely to do more transfer business
It won't go down well with many supporters, but it looks pretty certain now that Manchester United won't be signing anyone else today.
Their Profit and Sustainability position meant they could only buy someone if they sold at a profit - which essentially meant shifting Alejandro Garnacho or Kobbie Mainoo - and they have not found the right loan deal.
United sources believe this approach proves they are maintaining a disciplined approach to their finances by not taking, what they view to be, reckless or expensive risks for unproven young players that they couldn't buy at a later point.
They believe this means they will be in a better position in the summer, when players such as Victor Lindelof and Christian Eriksen will be out of contract and the amortisation on others, such as Casemiro and Antony, may have reduced to a point where a sale is possible without further reducing their PSR spending limits.
The flip side to this is Manchester United have shown repeatedly this season that they are not very good.
They are presently 13th in the Premier League and, give or take a place or two, that is where I expect them to end up.
It brings the remainder of their Europa League and FA Cup campaigns into greater focus.
It is 35 years since the club last had successive seasons where they finished eighth or lower.
