Man City enjoyed a winter mini-break training in Abu Dhabi ahead of facing Spurs, where the Belgian midfielder spoke about how he will face a hectic run of games starting on Friday night.

He stated: "I’d never had an injury like that so it’s hard to say where I am in terms of total fitness of playing every three days.

"Fortunately, the schedule is a little bit lighter at the moment, so I have some time to get back to that [level], but I need games to get to that match fitness. Until now, it’s been a good way to come back. Everything’s been going to plan."

After facing Tottenham, City take on Burnley and Brentford although the TV scheduling has been kind to them with this Friday kick-off followed by a Wednesday night home game and return to the capital the following Monday.

Guardiola has stated his hope that Haaland will soon be fit to return, just as John Stones will against Spurs as he is also on the bench.
