Lydia Ko reveals unique tattoo that celebrates her three Olympic medals at LPGA opener
ORLANDO, Fla. – Off to the side of the interview room at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, not long after Lydia Ko reminisced on actor Don Cheadle sending her a video of her on the podium in Paris, she revealed her newest tattoo.
Ko, who now has more than 10, asked her favorite tattoo artist in South Korea to design one that would commemorate her three Olympics triumphs. The three drawings, sized according to which medal she won where, represent the location of her three Olympic appearances.
On the left side is the statue of Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, where she won silver in 2016. In the middle is a sketch of Japan's Mount Fuji, representing her bronze medal in Tokyo. And on the right, a sketch of the Eiffel Tower, for her gold medal in Paris, a triumph that put her into the LPGA Hall of Fame.
Ko, 27, vaulted up the leaderboard after a second-round 5-under 67 to sit at 4 under for the tournament. The Lake Nona resident now holds a share of seventh, trailing leader A Lim Kim by six strokes. Ko, who won this event last season, credits putting the putter she used for most of last year back in the bag. It's easy to make equipment changes when your house sits right around the corner.
