LSU WR Kyren Lacy jailed after arrest on felony charges for involvement in fatal car crash

Lacy was booked on felony charges and eventually released on bail

Former LSU receiver Kyren Lacy turned himself in to Louisiana State Police on Sunday night after an arrest warrant was issued on felony charges of negligent homicide and hit-and-run driving with serious injury or death. He also faces a charge of reckless operation of a vehicle.

Lacy, 24, was booked and released approximately 90 minutes later on $151,000 bail, according to police records.

According to state police, Lacy drove around the crash scene following the accident and then fled without stopping to help or report the crash and his involvement in it. A post-crash investigation determined that Lacy was the driver of the vehicle causing the crash and an arrest warrant was issued.

Herman Hall, 78, was killed in a head-on collision between two vehicles. Two other drivers were injured in the crash.

After the arrest warrant was issued, state police said they had been in communication with Lacy, who was traveling out of state, and his attorney about turning himself in. Lacy's agent issued a statement saying his client was cooperating with authorities.

On Dec. 17, Lacy "recklessly passed multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed by crossing the centerline and entering the northbound lane while in a designated no-passing zone," according to the police report.

A pickup truck swerved right onto the shoulder of the highway to avoid colliding with Lacy's Dodge Charger while a Kia Cadenza steered to the left, where it crashed head-on into the Kia Sorento in which Hall was a passenger. He was transported to a local hospital, where he eventually died from his injuries.

Two days later, Lacy declared for the 2025 NFL Draft. Lacy also opted out of playing in the Texas Bowl versus Baylor.

Lacy played three seasons at LSU after transferring from Louisiana. He compiled 112 receptions for 1,692 yards and 16 touchdowns in 39 games. He is viewed as one of the top 15 receiver prospects in the upcoming draft.
