LSU’s Aneesah Morrow amazingly returned to Elite Eight matchup after bloody nose
This story was updated to include new information.
LSU star Aneesah Morrow is a warrior.
During an intense March Madness matchup between the UCLA Bruins for a trip to the Final Four, Morrow went down after some incidental contact.
During the third quarter, she accidentally collided with teammate Sa'Myah Smith. Morrow immediately fell to the floor, grabbing her nose. Head coach Kim Mulkey ran to be by her side along with other LSU staff members. Following several moments on the court, Morrow was helped back to the bench with a towel on her face.
She had a bloody nose.
She sat briefly on the bench before being led back to the locker room. However, she was not gone long. Between the third and fourth quarters, Morrow emerged a few minutes later and eventually returned to the game.ESPN's Holly Rowe later provided an update on Morrow.
“I can confirm she has broken her nose," Rowe said. "She is a tough young woman ... She is going to tough it out right now. Swelling has already started, but she is not going to let her team down in this moment.”

Shoutout to Aneesah Morrow for toughing it out. That's gritty.
UPDATE: Per John Leuzzi of USA TODAY, Morrow denied that she broke her nose. "I don’t know who’s lying and saying my nose is broken," she said after a 72-65 loss to UCLA. "My nose is bleeding. But I’m tough going to go out there and compete."Also, Rowe went to X (formerly Twitter) to clear up the confusion and admitted to misinterpreting initial intel on Morrow.
Want to correct one thing. Aneesah Morrow nose is not fractured. Heard them say it was “busted” but I guess they meant bleeding and busted open. Lost in Southern translation. 😆 Still a gutty performance.
