The most exciting night of the WWE calendar unfolded Saturday as the 38th installment of the Royal Rumble took place at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. It marked the official kickoff for the Road to WrestleMania 41, which culminates in April at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Saturday's event featured four matches — relatively light out of necessity considering the Men's and Women's Royal Rumble contests took more than an hour each and saw a returning Charlotte Flair and Jey Uso clinch their spots at WrestleMania 41.

Aside from the titular rumbles, the feud between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens came to a head with "The American Nightmare" retaining in an absolutely brutal ladder match. The other clash was for the WWE Tag Team Championships, as DIY successfully defended (with some help from the Street Profits) against Motor City Machine Guns in a best two-out-of-three falls affair.

Of course, as is tradition for the Royal Rumble, surprises and returns were the name of the game. In the women's Royal Rumble match we saw returns from not only Flair, but also Alexa Bliss, Trish Stratus and Nikki Bella. Longtime TNA powerhouse Jordynne Grace also made her second appearance and the WWE announce team stated she was officially under the brand's umbrella.

On the men’s side, there were fewer entrant-related surprises with just Joe Hendry, IShowSpeed and a returning AJ Styles being the most unexpected participants. That said, Uso winning the Royal Rumble was unequivocally the most surprising winner in recent WWE history, setting him up for a showdown with either Rhodes or World Heavyweight Champion Gunther in April.

Here are the results, grades and analysis from Saturday's event.

  • Grade: A-

  • Best spot: Alexa Bliss’ return

  • Analysis: WWE hit every note it needed to with the opening match of the Royal Rumble. We had major returns (teased and surprises) and we continued to see the depth in the women’s division across all of WWE’s brands. There will certainly be some complaints about Flair winning, but it was an absolutely justifiable booking decision considering her star power and ability. As I wrote in my prediction for the Uncrowned Horsemen roundtable, there are great story possibilities between Flair and either Tiffany Stratton or Rhea Ripley. The biggest (non-actual) winners here, in my opinion, were the NXT women who competed and showcased the talent within that roster in particular.

  • Grade: B

  • Best spot: MCMG’s Blockbuster Powerbomb

  • Analysis: This was a solid tag-team match between two of the best teams in the world, but it left me feeling a bit underwhelmed. The action was fine, albeit a bit brief, and there were definitely creative and fun moments throughout. A more vicious, heel version of the Street Profits coming back into the picture adds a new wrinkle to SmackDown’s already loaded tag-team division. MCMG was protected here, which was important if they were going to lose. Ultimately, when these four are involved on a PLE, I want to walk away feeling something more than “that was fine.”

  • Grade: A

  • Best spot: Owens’ Avalanche Fisherman’s Buster

  • Analysis: Even though it was fairly obvious that Rhodes was going to leave Lucas Oil Stadium as champion, this match was probably the best on the card. There were multiple “holy you-know-what” moments of violence in this match, which really helped push a compelling story with Rhodes in particular. As we head toward WrestleMania 41, it’s likely that we’re going to see the weight of being Undisputed WWE Champion impact Rhodes, and that really kicked into high gear Saturday as we saw a violent version of "The American Nightmare" we haven’t seen since his return to WWE in 2022. Will he turn heel before WrestleMania? Probably not because he’s a generational talent as a babyface, but for the first time in three years, the seeds have been planted. In turn, there are cracks beginning to show in Rhodes’ reign as well. Owens was brutalized Saturday, so I expect that we won’t see him for a little while, but he deserves his flowers for this match and feud in general.

  • Grade: B+

  • Best spot: Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins teaming up then fighting

  • Analysis: Let’s not sugarcoat it: Uso winning was a legitimate stunner. In a field with Reigns, John Cena, CM Punk and Rollins, there were so many OTHER possibilities than the one WWE is taking for the Road to WrestleMania. Uso was an unbelievably over star heading into the Royal Rumble, but he had just lost a World Heavyweight Championship match a week prior, so this really wasn’t on my radar as a realistic outcome. That said, the fact that it was such a swerve is what makes it work so well. The Reigns-Rollins moment was one of the best of the night and it appears as if we’re going to get them and Punk in a program moving forward. (Can Drake Riggs see the future? Maybe.) The other big question coming out of the men’s Royal Rumble is what is Cena’s path forward? The 16-time world champion declared he would be in March's Elimination Chamber and wants to be in the main event of WrestleMania and win his record-breaking 17th world championship. I’m not convinced that’s going to happen, but dragging out Cena’s chase and him repeatedly falling short is a far more compelling story to tell on the farewell tour.

  • Men's Royal Rumble match

The main event — the men's Royal Rumble — kicked off with Rey Mysterio entering first. Mysterio's participation was his 14th, the third-most all time. Mysterio previously won the Royal Rumble entering at No. 2 in 2006 and lasted more than 1 hour and two minutes, a record at the time.

Mysterio wouldn't be the lone Luchador in the Royal Rumble as Penta was entrant No. 2, making his debut in the event and setting up a truly thrilling opening segment of the match. The atmosphere was immediately electric as the two stars shook hands and the action kicked into high gear with both men nearly getting eliminated on a number of occasions. Penta's feet nearly touched the ground at one point but it appeared as if only one toe hit.

Chad Gable came out No. 3, continuing his "Raw" storyline of having trouble beating Luchadors. Gable looked strong at points but was unable to overcome the brief alliance forged between Mysterio and Penta. Carmelo Hayes came out No. 4, continuing the early trend of impressive workers in the match. Much like Penta and Mysterio, Hayes and Gable teamed up for a short time.

Santos Escobar, the leader of Legado del Fantasma, was fifth into the match and quickly took out Gable and Mysterio, the latter with a 619. Gable tried to eliminate all four other men in the ring, but they all hung on and turned on the American Made leader.

Things got worse for Gable as Otis was No. 6 to enter the match, followed by Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker at No. 7. The latter cleaned house, including eliminating Hayes and Escobar. Akira Tozawa was teased to enter 8th but was taken out by the departing Hayes. Adam Pearce brought Tozawa back to Gorilla and Triple H sent out streamer IShowSpeed as his replacement.

IShowSpeed actually got to eliminate Otis before he was punished — and eliminated — by Breakker. Sheamus was next out at No. 9. Sheamus immediately gave the Beats of the Bowery to Gable and Breakker before entering the ring officially.

The first member connected to either Bloodline (OG or new) came into the match as Jimmy Uso entered at No. 10. Uso quickly went on the offensive against the other wrestlers in the match before meeting his match in Sheamus, who nearly eliminated him.

Andrade entered at No. 11, a year after making his WWE return at the same event in 2024. As Andrade and Penta battled, the rest of the entrants turned their attention toward eliminating Breakker, ultimately no one was tossed before Jacob Fatu's music hit for the 12th competitor.

Fatu's impact was immediately felt as he hit a double Samoan drop on Penta and Mysterio and then eliminated them and Andrade in quick succession. Ludwig Kaiser was the No. 13 entrant and he sprinted to the ring before slowing down and waiting patiently before entering the fray. When he finally entered the ring, attempting to pounce and eliminate Penta, the Luchador turned the tables and sent the Imperium member to the floor.

The Miz was next to enter at No. 14, marking his 16th appearance in the Royal Rumble match. Miz nearly tricked Breakker into getting eliminated and had a brief moment to shine before running into Fatu.

The largest pop of the match to that point came as TNA Champion Joe Hendry's music hit and he quickly took the fight to anyone who wanted it. Fatu, like he had all match, snuffed out Hendry before everything halted as Roman Reigns made his entrance at No. 16. Reigns previously won the Royal Rumble in 2015 and hadn't been in the match in years. Reigns immediately eliminated Miz, Sheamus, Hendry and Breakker.

Uso looked to be reuniting with his cousin, Reigns, but Fatu eliminated Uso, leaving the rival Bloodline members to brawl and just Penta in the ring with them. It wasn't long before another heavy hitter came out as Drew McIntyre entered at No. 17.

McIntyre and Reigns traded blows before Fatu hit the OTC and the loose alliance between McIntyre and Fatu was renewed. As McIntyre continued to punish Reigns, Finn Balor entered at No. 18 and nearly eliminated Penta. With things relatively calm in the ring, Shinsuke Nakamura followed at No. 19. Nakamura, Fatu and McIntyre took the offense to Reigns and Balor eliminated Penta, drawing boos from the crowd.

Those boos quickly turned to cheers as Jey Uso was 20th to enter the match. Uso brought his "Yeet" energy into the match immediately, going on the offensive against everyone except Reigns, even eliminating Nakamura.

AJ Styles, no stranger to major Royal Rumble moments, made his first appearance in WWE since October as he entered at No. 21. After a brief staredown Styles and Fatu engaged, with the latter coming out on top with a sky-high back-body drop. Things were set to pick up as Braun Strowman entered at No. 22 and immediately clashed with Fatu, eliminating the Samoan Werewolf.

John Cena came back like Michael Jordan, but instead of wearing 45 he entered at No. 23, for his final Royal Rumble. Cena ran past Fatu on his way to the ring and the camera briefly focused on the Samoan Werewolf's expression. Cena quickly eliminated Strowman and Balor and had turned his attention to Reigns when CM Punk's music hit as the No. 24 entrant.

The Indianapolis crowed began to chant "This is Awesome" as Reigns, Cena and Punk stood in the ring together. Things amped up even more with Seth Rollins being the 25th into the match. Rollins went right at Punk, Cena and Reigns started to battle and Uso went head-to-head with Styles. McIntyre, the odd man out, literally, jumped from fight to fight.

25 spots after his father Rey entered the match, Dominik Mysterio — maybe the biggest pure heel in pro wrestling right now — entered the fray and immediately hit a frog splash on Cena. Mysterio's cockiness got the better of him as he tried to hit Reigns with the Three Amigos but the OTC countered into a Samoan drop.

The OG Bloodline's numbers grew as Sami Zayn came in at No. 27. Zayn hit Rollins with a Helluva Kick nearly right away and then took the fight to Punk as the match approached the 1-hour mark. Damian Priest, who has been getting a solid push as a new addition to the SmackDown roster, came in at No. 28 and dialed up his Undertaker-like offense with his Old School cross body to McIntyre. Priest then got some cheers from the crowd as he hurled Mysterio out of the ring.

LA Knight was No. 29 into the match, making his Royal Rumble match debut. Much like Mysterio, Knight's first bit of offense was a top-rope maneuver to a laid-out Cena. Knight and Uso then traded blows, drawing "Yeets" and "Yeahs" from the crowd.

Just as it looked like the OG Bloodline's numbers game would come into play in a positive way, Uso accidentally hit Zayn with a superkick, eliminating him from the match. Logan Paul then entered the match at 30, completing the field. Paul exploded into the match with a double slingshot clothesline. Uso and Priest teamed up to eliminate McIntyre shortly after.

Rumble savant Kofi Kingston was not in the match, so the wild Rumble survival needed to some somewhere. Turns out that came from Paul. Paul went from ring apron to announce table, then jumped to the barricade and steel steps before eliminating Styles. As all of this happened, Priest and Knight were eliminated as well.

Rollins and Reigns briefly reunited and took out the rest of the competition before staring one another down, jawing and eventually brawling. This was an absolutely thrilling segment that ended with Punk eliminating both Rollins and Reigns and then Paul pulling off the most surprising moment of the night by tossing Punk.

Furious, Rollins snapped and attacked Punk and Reigns, delivering a stomp to his former Shield ally onto the steel steps. Back in the ring, it was down to Cena, Uso and Paul.

Uso and Paul traded blows in the middle of the ring, with Uso getting the upper hand with a step-up enziguri. Cena recovered enough to go on the offensive and tease a double Attitude Adjustment to Paul and Uso. Uso leaped off Cena's shoulders and superkicked Paul to the ropes and Cena did the job of eliminating Maverick.

Down to just the last two, Uso and Cena took a moment to take in the electricity of the crowd before trading blows in the middle of the ring. Cena won the initial exchange and hit the Five-Knuckle Shuffle on Uso. As Cena went for the Attitude Adjustment, Uso countered with a pair of superkicks. Uso followed up and after a failed elimination attempt, speared Cena.

Both men got to their feet and eventually found themselves on the ring apron, battling for the WrestleMania main event. After trading blows, and near-eliminations, Uso stunned everyone and eliminated Cena.

Jey Uso wins the men's Royal Rumble in 1 hour and 20 minutes.

  • Cody Rhodes (c.) vs. Kevin Owens in a ladder match for the Undisputed WWE Championship

After a brief showcase of the WWE legends and celebrities in attendance at the Royal Rumble — John Mellencamp looked absolutely thrilled to be there — it was time for the ladder match between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens for the Undisputed WWE Championship.

Owens was first to make his entrance, with his "Canadian Dream" shirt — another stroke of genius from the Prize Fighter. Owens had the Winged Eagle belt with him after he took it back on Friday's "SmackDown." Rhodes did not take back his Undisputed WWE Championship belt on Friday (he wasn't on the televised show), but he had it in his possession as well.

Rhodes made his typical entrance, drawing a big reaction from the Lucas Oil Stadium crowd and was debuting a new jacket and ring gear (it's objectively awesome). Rhodes appeared to tempt fate by walking under the ladder set up at the end of the entrance ramp.

Once the bell rang, Rhodes and Owens engaged in a prolonged staredown, taking in the increasingly buzzy atmosphere in Indianapolis. Once they finally started brawling, Owens snuffed out Rhodes' momentum early and was first to exit the ring to go after a ladder. Rhodes stalked Owens and went for a suplex on the the fallen ladder but the challenger reversed it and rendered the key tool in the match useless.

The fight soon spilled into the crowd and the two men traded blows — including beer shots — as things looked more like a bar-room brawl than a wrestling match. Things returned ringside shortly after and Owens grabbed a ladder from under the ring and was first to make an ascent and attempt to win the match. Rhodes, playing defense, twice pulled Owens off the apparatus and sent him head-first into the ladder.

Rhodes' momentum was short-lived as Owens bounced Rhodes head off the announce table and then snagged another ladder out from under the ring, bridging it between the announce table and the ring apron. Rhodes suddenly rallied and whipped Owens into the steel steps before returning into the ring. Owens recovered and brought a step ladder into the ring, punishing Rhodes with the weapon.

Owens went to climb the ladder again, but Rhodes grabbed the step ladder himself and attacked. Rhodes used the opening to climb the bigger ladder before Owens unleashed another assault, culminating in a sidewalk slam on the small ladder.

The back-and-forth nature of the match continued as Rhodes recovered to climb the ladder and grab hold of the clip the belts hung from. Owens pulled Rhodes off, briefly leaving him dangling and then slammed Rhodes from the ladder to the ring. Rather than trying to win the match, Owens pursued Rhodes outside the ring and continued to punish the champion before introducing yet another ladder into the equation.

Rhodes was able to snap suplex Owens onto a ladder that laid flat in the ring. Rhodes then broke the bottom rung of the ladder off and hit Owens a few times with it before Owens countered with a superkick. Owens then added insult to injury by delivering a modified Bionic Elbow (instead hitting Rhodes with the broken ladder piece) to mock Rhodes' late father, Dusty.

Yet another ladder was brought into the ring, this one a medium-sized one, and Owens set it up across the bottom rope of the turnbuckle. Owens teased a package piledriver but Rhodes reversed it into a vicious back-body drop onto a ladder. Somehow, Owens recovered and grabbed Rhodes from near the top of the ladder and powerbombed him onto the previously introduced weapon.

As Rhodes attempted to fight back, Owens beat him back and set up a ladder between the bottom rope and the larger ladder. Owens threatened a frog splash onto Rhodes onto the ladder, instead Rhodes countered with a threatened superplex. Owens ultimately won out, delivering an avalanche fisherman's buster to Rhodes onto the ladder. The vicious move brought out WWE officials in storyline and Sami Zayn.

Zayn checked in on both Owens and Rhodes, and the challenger was the first to his feet, stalking Rhodes. Owens went for a stunner but Rhodes reversed into CrossRhodes, sending Owens outside the ring. Rhodes repeatedly smashed Owens' head off the announce table and into the ring post. As Rhodes continued his assault on the busted-open Owens, Owens hit him with a low blow and teased the package piledriver onto a ladder again. Instead, Rhodes reversed it into an Alabama slam, sending Owens crashing through a ladder.

Rhodes then climbed back into the ring, up the ladder and retrieved both belts to win the match.

Cody Rhodes def. Kevin Owens in 25:05 to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship.

  • DIY (c.) vs. Motor City Machine Guns for the WWE Tag Team Championships (two-out-of-three falls)

Arguably the biggest tag-team matchup in recent memory followed the women's Royal Rumble match. Motor City Machine Guns were first out, followed by the champs, DIY.

Action started fast between Tommaso Ciampa and Chris Sabin, but things escalated even further as all four men were in the ring seeming immediately. MCMG grabbed the upper hand as Sabin and Alex Shelly unleashed their speedy tandem offense and Sabin sent both Ciampa and Johnny Gargano into the announce table with a suicide dive.

The heel champions regained momentum as thing shifted back into the ring, slowing the pace slightly and delivering more punishing tandem offense. DIY isolated Sabin for a brief time before he was able to make a hot tag to Shelley. Ciampa and Gargano faked a tag, tricking Shelley and allowing Ciampa to hit a running knee and pick up the first fall of the match.

DIY stayed on top, this time isolating Shelley and attempting to end the match two falls to zero. Shelley was finally able to counter DIY with a dual DDT and faceplant, which sent Ciampa outside the ring. Ciampa crawled underneath the ring and attempted to pull Sabin from the apron. As Ciampa distracted the referee, Shelley made the tag to Sabin. Unfortunately for MCMG, the referee did not see the tag and forced Sabin out of the ring and allowed DIY to stay on the offensive.

After absorbing more punishment from DIY, Shelley countered a Gargano slingshot spear attempt and finally got the hot tag to Sabin. Sabin immediately took the attack to both DIY members, with his flurry culminating in an impressive springboard cross-body from inside the ring to the floor. MCMG kept up momentum with a massive tornado DDT from Sabin to Gargano and then the challengers hit Skull and Bones to even the match at one fall each.

For the third and final segment of the match, Gargano and Sabin remained the legal men at the start. DIY scored an early near-fall that was broken up by Shelley. As Gargano and Shelley battled outside the ring, Ciampa hit his Project Ciampa finisher on Sabin for a near-fall.

Sabin would finally break up the assault by Ciampa by sending him head-first into the ring post and setting him up in the Tree of Woe. MCMG picked up the pace by suplexing Gargano into the incapacitated Ciampa and then hitting him with a Blockbuster Powerbomb. Gargano was able to make the save and continue the match.

Gargano tagged himself in and accidentally took out Ciampa. MCMG pounced and appeared ready for the win, setting up Skull and Bones again. As the match appeared to be ending, the Street Profits, Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins, attacked the MCMG and allowed DIY to set up Meet in the Middle for the winning pin.

DIY def. the Motor City Machine Guns (2-1) in 14:00 to retain the WWE Tag Team Championships.

After the match, Ford and Dawkins attacked DIY as well, sending a statement to the entire SmackDown tag-team division.

  • Women's Royal Rumble match

The show kicked off with the 8th women's Royal Rumble match in WWE history.

Stephanie McMahon was introduced before the match and received a warm welcome from the Indianapolis crowd. McMahon ran through some of the streaming successes WWE has experienced so far this year, thanked fans and teed up the pyro to start the show.

We then got a video package narrated by former Colts punter and ESPN/WWE media personality Pat McAfee.

The match kicked off with Iyo Sky entering No. 1 in her 3rd career Royal Rumble. Her initial opponent was another major player in WWE's women's division, Liv Morgan. Morgan has been in every women's Royal Rumble and has finished 2nd in back-to-back years.

After a fairly standard showdown between Sky and Morgan, the third entrant made her way to the ring, former NXT Women's Champion Roxanne Perez. Perez was the first representative from NXT and it was her 2nd ever Royal Rumble.

Women's Intercontinental Champion Lyra Valkyria made her Royal Rumble debut, entering No. 4 and cleaning house quickly. She was followed up by another inaugural champion as Chelsea Green sauntered to the ring No. 5. B-Fab came in No. 6 as the ring continued to fill up with no one having been eliminated yet.

American Made's Ivy Nile was No. 7 and was serenaded by "You Suck" chants usually reserved for Chad Gable. She pulled off an impressive double German suplex shortly after entering. Another "Raw" stable wrestler came out No. 8, with Pure Fusion Collective's Zoey Stark entering the ring.

NXT's Lash Legend made her Royal Rumble debut at No. 9 and followed the trend of cleaning house in the ring. Legend showed off her immense power immediately and won the crowd over quickly. After B-Fab and Lash Legend went toe-to-toe and took each other out with pump kicks, Green rushed to make the first elimination of the match, sending B-Fab over the top rope.

The first former women's Royal Rumble winner came out at No. 10 with Bianca Belair entering the fray. PFC and Stark got a big boost at No. 11 as Shayna Baszler came out to the ring. Belair and Baszler are tied with Nia Jax with the most eliminations in a single women's Royal Rumble match with eight each.

The second elimination came when Ivy Nile tossed Lyra Valkyria out of the ring, potentially setting up a Women's Intercontinental Championship feud on "Raw." Bayley came out at No. 12 and was looking to win back-to-back Royal Rumbles and become the first two-time winner in women's Royal Rumble history.

PFC was complete as Sonya Deville came out at No. 13 and she immediately started directing Baszler and Stark. All three members of PFC were waiting in the middle of the ring as Maxxine Dupri entered at No. 14. Instead of PFC battling the Alpha Academy member, Ivy Nile stepped up and the two clashed. Dupri got a great pop hitting the Reverse Caterpillar and eliminating Ivy Nile. As Dupri celebrated she was thrown out by PFC.

The halfway point came when Naomi entered at No. 15, completing the Women's Tag Team Champions with Belair. PFC was eliminated in quick succession with Belair and Naomi tossing Stark, Sky bouncing Deville and Bayley sending Baszler out. After this sequence, Jaida Parker came in at No. 16 and made her Royal Rumble debut.

Green, serving as comic relief, capitalized on a moment and eliminated Legend before getting some help with her "Secret Her-vice" partner Piper Niven coming in at No. 17. That was a short-lived moment of glory as Niven accidentally bounced Green.

Natalya came out at No. 18. Natalya has competed in every women's Royal Rumble. Natalya was followed by the first big surprise of the night with Jordynne Grace entering at No. 19. The commentary desk said that she was officially with WWE. Grace immediately made her presence felt by eliminating Parker and delivering a Death Valley Driver to Niven. Michin followed at No. 20.

Arguably the biggest return in women's Royal Rumble history came at No. 21, as Alexa Bliss made her return to WWE for the first time in more than two years. The Indianapolis crowd erupted as the former champion made her way to the ring.

Zelina Vega came out at No. 22, making it 12 women active in the ring. Shortly after entering, she landed a huge maneuver on Grace off the top rope during an impressive flurry. Another SmackDown star, Candice LeRae was No. 23 to enter the match. It was LeRae's fifth Royal Rumble.

Another Royal Rumble debut came at No. 24 when NXT star Stephanie Vaquer emerged. She immediately made her presence felt going after WWE veterans Bayley and Natalya.

The first legend entrance of the night came at No. 25, as WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus joined the fray. Stratus' entrance and initial action drew "This is Awesome" chants from the crowd. Stratus' momentum was halted quickly by Niven.

24 spots after Morgan entered, Raquel Rodriguez came out at No. 26 and went into protection mode for her Judgment Day partner. Rodriguez and Morgan teamed up to eliminate Natalya and Bliss.

Charlotte Flair made her return at No. 27, getting pyro on her way to the ring. The 2020 Royal Rumble winner has been out with injury since December 2023. In Royal Rumble history, No. 27 is a spot that many eventual winners drew. Flair had the most dominant presentation of any star in the ring so far, eliminating Michin and reversing a stalled double vertical suplex from Vaquer and Grace. Flair followed that up by eliminating Niven as well.

NXT Women's Champion, Giulia, came out at No. 28 to make her Royal Rumble debut. Perez, the woman she beat for the championship had been in the match since entering at No. 3. Rather than immediately renewing that rivalry, Giulia and Sky went head-to-head. After she was done with Sky, Giulia eliminated Grace.

The penultimate entrance came from former WWE Women's Champion Nia Jax. Jax entered tied for the most eliminations in Women's Royal Rumble history. Jax upped that number quickly, breaking the tie and eliminating Vega.

Jax and Stratus stared each other down and Jax's running mate LeRae tried an ambush. Stratus countered and eliminated LeRae. After a brief showdown, LeRae interfered from the outside and helped Jax eliminate Stratus.

The 30-woman field was completed with another legend's return as Nikki Bella came out at No. 30. Bella stared down Jax as the rest of the women rose to their feet and ganged up on Jax in an attempt to eliminate her. Jax overpowered all of the women but the assault continued. As this all took place, Sky and Morgan officially surpassed Bayley's record from last year for time spent in the match.

Several close calls took place chaos ensued on the ring apron before Jax eliminated what looked like half a dozen stars in Vaquer, Sky, Belair, Naomi, Rodriguez and Morgan. Perez would break up the Jax stretch and eliminate Giulia. Jax followed up by eliminating Bella shortly after Bayley made her exit at the hands of Bella.

The end came relatively quickly as Flair eliminated Jax and then Perez, becoming a two-time Royal Rumble winner. Despite her runner-up statusRoxanne Perez finished as the record holder for time spent in a single women's Royal Rumble match.
