Arnold Barboza Jr. upsets Jack Catterall to win WBO interim title, become Teofimo Lopez's mandatory

Arnold Barboza Jr. upsets Jack Catterall via split decision (113-115, 115-113, 115-113) to win the WBO Interim super lightweight title.

Better start to the sixth for Barboza who found a home for his right hand. Catterall has a good start to the second half of the round, though, as Catterall connects with a hard left hand. It's been a better round for Barboza, just outworked Catterall.

Left hand from Catterall skims the guard. He might not get many finishes but Catterall has serious power in the left hand.

Catterall, a southpaw, and Barboza, a right-hander, meet in the center of the ring. A left hand from Catterall is the first significant connect of the opener. Barboza might take some time to settle into this contest, he really is in enemy territory and a raucous crowd has no intention of letting him forget that. Barboza is clipped by a right hook on the way in, the American has not figured out the distance in this fight yet.

Bellotti is working the body consistently in the ninth, looking for another big shot that could finish the fight this time. Gomez Jnr is so tough though and will not wilt, he keeps coming back. Gomez needs to let his hands go in the championship rounds, there's nothing to lose.

This was touted to be the Fight of the Night but it's not quite caught fire yet. Bellotti is out landing Gomez Jnr. with ease early doors while Gomez Jnr. struggles to pin him down. Right hand from Bellotti connects and Gomez Jnr takes a backwards step for the first time in the fight, he voluntarily backs up on the ropes. It's all Bellotti through four.

Back to the body goes Bellotti, it's been a keen focus for the reigning champion early in this fight — perhaps he feels that he can slow Gomez Jnr down before he even gets going. Gomez is being outworked by Bellotti again, not much landing clean, but Bellotti is the one that is letting his hands go and banking these rounds. Bellotti lets his hands go in range and then uses his feet to get out of range before Gomez responds.

The pair were meant to clash last October, but Gomez Jnr. pulled out of the fight in the changing room just an hour before.

Anthony Crolla, Robbie Davies Jr.'s trainer, will not let his man out for round after a six-round beat down from Pat McCormack that included three knockdowns.

Counter right hand for McCormack connects early in the fifth, Davies was hurt again. Ben Davison, the trainer, told McCormack that Davies was ready to go in-between rounds and he might be right. Head-body-head goes McCormack, this is tremendous stuff.

Right from McCormack connects after two left hands — the same combination that we've seen time and again from McCormack in this contest. 1-2 from McCormack and DOWN GOES DAVIES just after the halfway stage in round three. Precise, sharp combination punching from McCormack. 1-2 again from McCormack AND DOWN AGAIN IS DAVIES. Fantastic performance from McCormack so far!

McCormack finding success with long right hands early in round two. Brilliant four-punch combination from McCormack connects. McCormack is utilizing the Philly shell/shoulder roll defense. Davies Jr. can't get out of the way of McCormack's attacks.

1-2 from McCormack breaks the guard early in the opener. Another 1-2 from McCormack, Davies is not seeing the punches coming. McCormack is far too sharp for Davies Jr. at this stage in the contest. Dominant start from the former amateur standout.

Jazza Dickens takes a unanimous decision (97-93, 97-93, 96-94) over the world-ranked contender Zelfa Barrett to open the main card in Manchester. Big upset!

A pair of right hands get through from Barrett as he desperately looks for a breakthrough, Dickens is moving well though, and keeping Barrett off him. He has surely won this fight.

Barrett knows he's behind in the contest, looking to put his punches together, but he's really struggling with Dickens' angles and counter-punching. Dickens is landing some lovely right hooks as Barrett looks to launch his own attacks.

Overhand left from Dickens lands on Barrett. Another left hand from Dickens. Barrett looking to get his own back as he pushes Dickens on the backfoot. Barrett swings and missess as Dickens counters with the left hand. That may just be Dickens' best round of the fight.

Damage below Dickens' eye which has spurred Barrett on. Barrett looking to box with his hands down and counter with single shots. Good first half to the round for Barrett who connects with the right hand to the head and body, it was a good response from Dickens though as Barrett looked to open up.

Right hand skims Dickens in the first minute of the fourth. Barrett is starting to become more aggressive now. Left hand from Dickens breaks the guard,

Barrett is once again forced onto the backfoot. Barrett is making this harder than it needs to be by not asserting control in this fight.

Dickens applying pressure as Barrett is perhaps waiting too long to let his hands go. Barrett lands with the right hand upstairs followed by a right hand to the body after Dickens connected with a left hand. It was a better finish to the round for Barrett, he needs to continue this in round 4.
