The world of professional wrestling has been rocked by the tragic death of Adrian ‘Lionheart’ McCallum, aged 36.

The news was confirmed by Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW) on Wednesday, the organisation where McCallum was World Heavyweight Champion.

“We are heartbroken to learn of the tragic death of ICW World Heavyweight Champion, Adrian ‘Lionheart’ McCallum,” ICW wrote.

“Adrian was a mainstay of ICW and British professional wrestling. Most importantly, he was our friend. His passing leaves a huge hole in the lives of those who knew him,” they tweeted.

Glasgow Pro Wrestling Asylum, where McCallum coached, also expressed their shock.

“We are heartbroken to learn of the tragic death of GPWA Coach Adrian ‘Lionheart’ McCallum,” the academy wrote.

“Most importantly, he was our friend. His passing leaves a huge hole in the lives of those who knew him. Please respect his family & friend’s privacy at this time.”

‘Do everything you love with passion’

It is unclear how the British wrestler died, but the devastating news comes just hours after a haunting social media post.

"One day you will eat your last meal, you will hug your friend for the last time,” he wrote.

"You might not know it's the last time, that's why you must do everything you love with passion."

The quote from Ricky Gervais' Netflix hit ‘After Life’ was posted on Twitter on Wednesday.

McCallum’s death also comes just days after he was renamed ICW’s World Heavyweight Champion and earned the title of Union of European Wrestling Alliances’ Heavyweight Champion.

He celebrated the achievements on Instagram last weekend.

“The will of the strong will never be shaken by doubts of the weak…’‬ ‪#Champion #WorldClass” he wrote alongside photos with his belts.
