Lee smashes highest WBBL score in Hurricanes win
Women's Big Bash League, Sydney
Hobart Hurricanes 203-3 (20 overs): Lee 150* (75); Ainsworth 2-17
Perth Scorchers 131 (19.3 overs): Ainsworth 41 (27); Graham 3-24
Hobart Hurricanes won by 72 runs
Lizelle Lee smashed an unbeaten 150 from 75 balls to set a new record for the highest individual score in the Women's Big Bash League.
Former South Africa international Lee struck 12 fours and 12 sixes in her knock as Hobart Hurricanes posted 203-3 against Perth Scorchers.
The Scorchers were then bowled out for 131 in 19.3 overs in reply, with all-rounder Heather Graham taking 3-24 in Hurricanes' crushing 72-run win.
Lee comfortably passed Australian Grace Harris' previous record of 136, which she made for Brisbane Heat - also against the Scorchers - in 2023.
Her opening partner, England's Danni Wyatt-Hodge, was dismissed for four and Australia's Nicola Carey fell for a first-ball duck.
But 14 from Elyse Villani and an unbeaten 23 from Graham helped Lee dominate a weary Scorchers attack, as all-rounder Chloe Ainsworth was the only bowler to emerge unscathed with 2-17.
Scorchers' chase began disastrously with New Zealand's World Cup-winning captain Sophie Devine falling to the first ball of the innings, and only Ainsworth's 41 from 27 balls at number eight prevented a total collapse.
Elsewhere, England captain Heather Knight continued her fine form with a second successive half-century in Sydney Thunder's 18-run win over Sydney Sixers.
Knight struck 50 from 31 balls in Thunder's 158-6, with Australia's Phoebe Litchfield adding 34 from 25.
England spinner Sophie Ecclestone was expensive, with 1-40 from her four overs for the Sixers, who were bowled out for 140 in reply.
