Jason Taumalolo to remain with the Cowboys

Cowboys wrecking ball Jason Taumalolo will knock back huge offers from the Warriors, Sea Eagles and Sharks to remain in Townsville.

The most in-demand forward on the NRL open market, Taumalolo met with North Queensland officials yesterday and told them he was prepared to re-sign for another two years.

It’s believed North Queensland’s offer is worth around $150,000-a-season less than what Warriors coach Andrew McFadden had tabled during a trip to Townsville last week. Manly and Cronulla had also offered Taumalolo around $650,000-a-year to defect.

However, Seven News understands Taumalolo – who has lived in Townsville since he was 15 – felt indebted to the Cowboys for developing him, and also assisting him through some tough times off the field.

"We know Jason has an incredibly bright future in the game and we're delighted that future will be with the Cowboys," said Cowboys general manager Peter Parr in a statement.
