Players on the Move - NRL 2016

All the off-season player moves heading into season 2016. Who are the new faces heading to your club?

Sam Burgess returns to the Rabbitohs from a short stint in Rugby. Former Bulldogs hooker Damien Cook appears the logical replacement for Warriors bound Issac Luke. Whereas Hymel Hunt and Michael Oldfield will be looking to impress to fill a position in Rabbitohs backline.

Very busy in the off-season, the Dragons key recruits include Kurt Mann from the Storm and Tim Lafai from the Bulldogs. Irish International Tyrone McCarthy also joins the Dragons ranks signing from Hull.

Joe Burgess makes his move from Wigan to join the tri-colours, whilst former Bronco Dale Copley will add experience to the Roosters backline. There is a question mark over what affect is the loss of Roger Tuvasa-Sheck, James Maloney and Michael Jennings likely to have on the Roosters.

Great signings in Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and Issac Luke have ensured the Warriors will be genuine contenders this season. The addition of Jeff Robson from the Sharks is a handy one.

The loss of Pat Richards, Martin Taupau and Keith Galloway would be considered major losses to any club. The Wests Tigers have recruited Matt Ballin, Jack Littlejohn and Michael Chee-Kam all from the Sea Eagles. Joel Edwards joins the Tigers from the Raiders. Whilst Jordan Rankin returns to the NRL after a stint in the UK.

Newly appointed coach Anthony Griffin has inherited a useful team which includes star signing Trent Merrin from the Dragons. In addition, French youngest Benjamin Garcia, Sitaleki Akaoula from the Tigers and Sauia Matagi from the Roosters add plenty forward pack bite.

A number of changes to the Eels roster will have most fans biting at the bit to see their team run out for their first match of the season. High profile player include Kieran Foran, Michael Jennings, Beau Scott and Michael Gordon. Other than losing Chris Sandow last season, the loss of Will Hopoate to the Bulldogs is the only notable change.

The defending champions have not been active on the player market and have retained the core of their team from last season. The only additions include NYC Titans player of the year Shaun Hudson and talented young Kiwi Jahrome Hughes.

The Wayne Bennett influence has ensured James Roberts will wear the colours of the Broncos for 2016. Roberts signing from the Titans is a straight replacement for retired captain Justin Hodges. Dale Copley made a late switch to the Roosters.

Will Hopoate arrives from the Eels to fill in the void left by Tim Lafai in the centres. Craig Garvey adds some depth in the hooking role whilst departing star halfback Trent Hodkinson signed for the Knights at the end of last season.

Notable signing from the Titans Aidan Sezer is expected to slot into the halfback role. Adams Clydesdale arrives from the Knights in an attempt to claim the difficult to fill in hooking position. Whilst David Shillington - Titans, Mitch Cornish - Eels and Josh McCrone - Dragons all have left in search for a fresh beginning with their new clubs.

The addition of James Maloney from the Roosters and Chad Townsend from the Warriors gives the Sharks additional options in the halves. The most notable loss to the Sharks backline is Michael Gordon who signed for the Eels at the end of last season.

A few old faces join the Titans. David Shillington makes his move from the Raiders in what would be considered a straight swap for Manly-bound Nate Myles. Nathan Friend returns to the Gold Coast for a second stint at Hooker. Zeb Taia adds a bit of grunt in the forward pack returning after a stint in the UK. With the notable move of Aidan Sezer to the Raiders, new signing Ashley Taylor has some huge boots to fill. In another major move away from the Titans, James Roberts has found a new home playing for the Broncos.

With players such as Keiran Foran, Matt Ballin and Peta Hiku all departing for new clubs, New caoch Trent Barrett wasted no time in securing the services of star player Dylan Walker from the Rabbitohs as well as some former Panther players in Lewis Brown and Apisai Koroisau. Add this to Queensland State of Origin front rower Nate Myles and Kiwi international Martin Taupau and it appears Manly are set for a big season.

Kurt Mann to the Dragons and Mr consistent Ryan Hinchcliffe off to the UK are notable losses for the storm. Coach Craig Bellamy hasn't made any major acquisitions sticking with a tried and tested formula of buying players on the cheap and turning them into strong performers for the Storm. Hard men Matthew White and Mark Nicholls joins the Storm respectively from the Titans and Raiders. Cheyse Blair and Jeremy Hawkins are solid additions to the storm backline.

With the loss of Kurt Gidley, Beau Scott, Tyrone Roberts and Chris Houston the Knights have lost a considerable amount of experience within their ranks. Under new coach Nathan Brown, it appears the Knights will look to the youth for depth. State of Origin and former Bulldogs play maker Trent Hodkinson will be a steady influence and his role with Jarrod Mullen will be pivotal in the Knights chances for 2016.
