WATCH: 'Giant' seven-year-old shocks league officials

This footage from an Under-8 match in Canterbury Bulldogs juniors has shocked league officials and fans around Australia.

His club have labelled him a ‘gentle giant’ but that will seem little consolation for other parents who have kids half his size lining up to play him each week.

The Samoan juggernaut is seen sweeping through an entire opposition, swatting them away like flies, on his way to scoring a long range try.

The footage has reignited the weight v age competition debate with many people labelling it unfair or even unsafe for smaller kids to have to play against others who have developed so much earlier.

The boy plays for St Johns Eagles and his club chairman Nasser Matta says he would never intentionally hurt anyone and understands his size advantage.

“We just follow the rules,” Matta told News Corp.

“And there are some even bigger kids playing.

“This boy’s a gentle giant. He doesn’t just run through the opposition to hurt other kids.

“He’s aware of his size. He could pick up kids with one hand if he wanted to but he’s just a nice gentle boy. He’s a good kid from a good family who just loves playing footy.

“I don’t want the kid to think he doesn’t deserve to play footy because of his size.”

The boys age has been confirmed by the club from his passport and he has every right to play Under-8s.
