NRL star breaks silence on revenge porn scandal

Penrith Panthers star Bryce Cartwright has spoken for the first time in public about the revenge porn scandal involving his former partner.

Cartwright found himself at the centre of an ugly incident in December that played out on social media following a messy break-up with his long-term partner Brittany Hura.

The NRL star's jilted ex allegedly posted nude photos of the 22-year-old on Twitter, apparently as an act of revenge after he began seeing another woman.

She's also accused of posting a video on Facebook threatening to kill Cartwright.

"I made a few mistakes and everyone has seen it out there now, Cartwright told News Corp.

"So I have just put it behind me."

"I am in a much better mindset now that it is all over and I have moved on with my life. Life is good at the moment.

"I had a pretty tough time there for a while but I had some great people around me with some great support and I can't thank everyone who was in my corner enough."

The young playmaker reserved special praise for his Panthers club boss and coach.

"Gus Gould helped me out a lot, he was just always there, along with Anthony Griffin," he said.

"And I can't go past my parents and my new partner, obviously she has been a big help. I have put it behind me now and I can't wait to get back into footy."

Cartwright's former partner appeared in a Sydney court in December after allegedly posting the lewd photos of the footballer online and threatening to kill him.

Hura did not enter pleas when she became before the Penrith Local Court charged with stalking or intimidating with intent to cause fear and using a carriage service to menace harass or offend.

An Interim Apprehended Domestic Violence Order, ordering Hura not to make any contact with Mr Cartwright, was imposed until February 24, when her lawyers are expected to make an application under the Mental Health Act.

The order also prohibits her from going within 250 metres of Mr Cartwright's home, the Penrith Panthers League Club and Pepper Stadium.
