Burgess to give NFL a crack

Tom Burgess is ready follow Jarryd Hayne’s footsteps and give the NFL a real crack at the completion of the 2016 NRL season.

The South Sydney Rabbitohs front rower and younger brother of Sam Burgess trialled for five NFL clubs during the off-season.

"(I had trials at) both the teams in New York, the Bills, the Steelers and then the Seahawks,” he said.

"I will probably go over there again at the end of this year. I suppose I'm still young and it would be an interesting type of prospect."

The 23-year-old can activate a get-out clause in his Rabbitohs contract once this season finishes if he is successful.

Despite his confidence, Burgess knows the stakes are high.

"That's probably one of the biggest things, it's very cut throat, it's a big risk, so many players, the pool of talent over there is so big,” he said.

“You've got to be all in if you are going to do it."
